In Love With Luvstep

“Luvstep IV: A New Hope” is set to be released on Valentine’s day. If you have not been on board with the “Luvstep” mixes by Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe I recommend you check them out. The duo joins forces annually to release a hour long Chillstep mix on Valentine’s Day for free download.

Chillstep as a genre is also sometimes referred to as Lovestep. It is bass heavy, and a lot like dubstep, but without the dramatic drops. The drops are instead subtle but deep and sometimes even dark. Listening to Chillstep I often find myself in a meditative trance and covered in goosebumps.

The “Luvstep” mixes combine heavy vocals and bass to tell a love story. Every “Luvstep” mix expresses a unique rendition of all the different faucets of love, whether it be passion or betrayal or everything that comes in-between. The emotion behind these mixes is intensely genuine, cynical, and hopeful.

Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe remix all sorts of genres into “Luvstep”, from pop to R&B to EDM. The outcome is a unified yearbook of songs everybody should know but probably have not heard yet. Whether it be Alvin Risk, Ellie Goulding, Chase and Status, or Imogen Heap every “Luvstep” mix is literally overflowing with captivating melodies. I cannot even count how many times I have been at an EDM show and instantly recognize a song I had originally heard in “Luvstep.”

Take my word for it, this mix is jam- packed with eerie bass and intense vocals that one can only recognize as beautiful. It’s just one of those mixes you could leave on repeat for days on end. So if you haven’t make sure to catch up on “Luvstep” before “Luvstep IV” is released next month.

See you on the dance floor.
