There have been constant rumors for a very long time now stating that the legendary French duo will be working on a new project. If you haven’t heard or seen the last few rumors related to them, we’ll get you up to speed. About two months back there was an information leak by EDMSnob, and an industry insider, that stated they had a 2013 summer tour in the works. The supposed tour was scheduled to hit a few major European festivals, but the leak did not indicate a plan for a North American presence. Then, in early September, there was this album cover leak from a French band called Yelle via Twitter. Their short-winded tweet simply stated “yup” with a Daft Punk album cover attached. “No End. 3.13.13” . Our inclination is to disregard the latter and hope the former isn’t true. If it was, Daft Punk wouldn’t be coming to North America, which we can’t live with.
Now, it’s been discovered recently that Daft Punk‘s website “http://www.daftpunk.com” has gone under construction after a very long period of stagnancy. There’s always a chance that they are switching hosting companies, or had an issue, but it could mean that they’re developing a completely new site. If they are developing something new, there’s going to be a good reason. Here’s to hoping these rumors come to fruition…with a tour that reaches California.
Update: The Daft Punk website has now been updated with this image in place of the “Under Construction” sign. It’s becoming more and more apparent that something really is in the works. If the duo was really just changing hosting companies, or doing site management, they would have relaunched the website much more quickly. It doesn’t really take that long to point nameservers these days. Let’s keep this hyped so that they know the people want, no need, more Daft Punk.
