Swedish export Avicii was scheduled to close the night at this weekends stops of Australia’s Future Music Festival in Brisbane and Perth, but due to illness he has cancelled both headlining sets. According to a statement released by FMF, the Levels hitmaker was hospitalized a soon as he arrived in Brisbane earlier this week.
“It is with deep regret that we inform you of the decision to cancel Avicii’s performances at Future Music Festival in Brisbane and Perth. Avicii went directly to the hospital upon landing in Brisbane for stomach related issues. He has been hospitalized since then. Over the past couple of days we have been monitoring his condition and we have all been optimistic about him being healthy enough to perform. Unfortunately the doctors are not willing to discharge him at this time which means he will sadly be unable to appear tonight or at tomorrow’s festival.
FMF went on to say that they are very confident that he will be able to play at next weeks stops in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. But for the time being Hardwell would be playing an extended set to fill the void left by Avicii.
